The poet Mary Oliver died on Thursday. I almost hate to admit how much I like her work \u2014 not because she isn\u2019t all morose and difficult like poets are supposed to be, but because some people (well, one <\/a>in particular<\/a>) misappropriate and befoul her words.
\n<\/p>\n

Slate recently published a delightful piece by Rebecca Onion \u2014 \u201cWild and Precious Life: My mom, Mary Oliver, fancy smart people, and me<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

In her article, Onion quotes Oliver\u2019s \u201cMysteries, Yes<\/a>,\u201d two lines of which seem appropriate here:<\/p>\n

Let me keep my distance, always, from those
\nwho t<\/span>who think they have the answers.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
