Version Differences In the Observer Journals

Note that August 12, 2019, is two or three days before Steven Munatones doctored Diana Nyad’s Openwaterpedia entry to illegitimately ratify her crossing.

The Support Team
In the back of Find a Way, Diana lists the members of her “Xtreme Dream Team.” She breaks the list into sections: “Handlers,” “Kayakers,” “Shark divers,” etc. The largest section by far is “The Support Team.” This spreadsheet includes information about the PR reps, lawyers, agents and others in that section and the remaining two media-related categories.

- THE STORM
Combined logs from before, during, and after the storm show that we can ’t know what happened during that critical part of the crossing. See this spreadsheet. Also, see this version with proportional hours. - BREAKS
Nyad says she limits the length of her breaks to about three minutes. If she takes longer, the current will push her too far eastward. The logs show that her breaks averaged about 15 minutes each. See this spreadsheet.
- THE FINAL NINE HOURS
During the final nine hours of the crossing, the document nothing about the swimmier's condition beyond a single stroke count. This spreadsheet expands on WOWSA’s combined log for the last nine hours to include everything Hinkle, McVeigh, and Bartlett wrote during that time.
