Update 26 June 2018: Fort Lauderdale’s Parks, Recreation and Beaches Advisory Board voted to withdraw its support of the marker.

Timeline:

May 31, 2017 — Dr. Lynnette Long Proposal

Dr. Long of Equal Visibility Everywhere (EVE) submits initial marker proposal.

Nov 15, 2017 — Florida Historical Marker Council Consideration

The council—part of the Florida Department of State/Division of Historical Resourcesdiscusses the proposal, then tables it pending changes in the text that would bring it into compliance with their historical marker criteria. Namely, they want the text to address older events.

Feb 21, 2018 — Florida Historical Marker Council Approval
Apr 25, 2018 — Ft. Lauderdale PR&B Board Votes to Support

Fort Lauderdale’s Parks, Recreation and Beaches Board consider the marker proposal and vote in favor of it. So far, I only have the agenda.

May 23, 2018 — PR&B Board Withdraws Support

The board votes 12 to 1 to withdraw its support. You can find a draft version of the minutes here.

The city commission could still approve the marker, but that appears unlikely. They’ve met twice since the PR&B vote, and at neither meeting did they address the marker proposal.
